Fun fact: One of the very first things we sold when Clare started Bon Maxie was… earring holders. They were wooden, handpainted (by Clare herself) and they were the reason Bon Maxie became A Real Thing. So if you’re one of our O.G. customers – or you’re new around here and keen on learning how best to use your brand new Bon Maxie earring holder(s) – then we’ve answered some of our most-frequently-asked questions, just for you. Here’s everything you need to know about jewellery (well, earring) organisation.
What is the best way to store earrings?
When storing earrings, we’d recommend choosing a super sturdy earring holder that’ll keep your earrings together and untangled (especially if you love the dangly kind), and will ensure you never lose your earring backs.
Luckily, our entire range of metal earring holders allows you to keep your earrings effortlessly organised.
Combination of studs and dangly earrings? We’d recommend our Easy-Drop Earring Holder. It’ll allow you to drop your earrings straight in with their backs on, and it’s cleverly tiered, compact and customisable with adjustable rungs so you can hold heaps of earrings without wasting space or having to overlap your earrings.
If you mostly (or only) wear studs or small hoops/danglies, and don’t have a boisterous collection? We’d recommend our Mini Classic Earring Holder.
How do you display a lot of earrings?
Got a lot of earrings? We’d recommend investing in our Easy-Drop Earring Holder, or our Mega Easy-Drop Earring Holder. They both contain the same features, except one is extra large (it’s kinda in the name).
Our Easy-Drop Earring Holders are made from sturdy metal, feature enough room for all kinds of earrings, plus have extra space for dangling necklaces, hair elastics, glasses, or even more earrings. And if that isn’t enough space for you? You can always add on some Easy-Drop Earring Holder Bars.
How do you travel with earrings?
Find yourself a super handy travel earring holder! Our Travel Earring Holder features an antibacterial sponge that’ll protect your earrings from being smooshed in your case, and a board you can pin your earrings through. And the best part? This lil PVC cutie comes with 20 spare earring backs, just in case, y’know, the inevitable happens.
How do I keep my earrings clean?
We’ve covered keeping your earring collection neat and tidy, but what about keeping your actual earrings clean? For any handmade or material other than sterling silver or solid gold, we recommend checking care guidelines from the designer, but for solid jewellery, here’s some handy instructions below.
-
Combine some dishwashing detergent with some warm water.
-
Soak your earrings for up to 30 minutes (but 20 will suffice if you’re in a rush).
-
If soaking isn’t doing a good enough job on its own, you can grab a new toothbrush and give the struggling areas a bit of a scrub. This should definitely help.
- Dry your earrings off with a soft cloth or towel.
And that should do it!
