The days are getting warmer, so we’re getting lazier. If you’ve been hanging around for a while, you’d know we’re all ‘bout those #LazyGirlHacks. So we figured we’d curate a list of some quick & easy air fryer recipes that’ll make life a little less stressful, and way more delicious.
The only requirement? You need to own an air fryer (and all the ingredients we’re about to mention).
What is the best food to cook in an air fryer?
Okay, we’re not pretending to be Gordon Ramsay here, but if you’re wanting to make dinner time a million times easier and are about to use your air fryer for the very first time, then you’ll need to know which ingredients work best in it.
We love putting the following items into our air fryers:
- Potatoes (hot chip vibes)
- Vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, brussel sprouts and zucchini
- Schnitzel
- Meatballs
- Tofu (and other proteins)
- Eggplant
- Sliced pear and/or apple (trust us)
Which recipes should I make in my air fryer?
Ahhh, we never thought you’d ask! Here are some of our slightly-non-traditional recipes that are air fryer-able:
Air Fryer Pears (or Apples)
This recipe has a similar energy to apple crumble (and if you add some granola or oats on top before popping your apple or pears inside the air fryer, it’s the perfect lazy girl crumble).
You’ll need:
- An apple or pear, you decide.
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg
- Melted butter
- Vanilla ice cream
- Optional: Tahini
Method:
-
Cut your apple or pear in half.
-
Shake some cinnamon and nutmeg on top of each half.
-
Pour your melted butter on top of both halves. (You can also totally add tahini on top of the butter, if that’s your thing, for an extra delicious flavour explosion).
-
Pop ‘em in the air fryer for 10 minutes, and then flip them over to the other side for another few minutes.
- Take both halves out of the air fryer, and serve with a scoop of ice-cold vanilla ice cream. Yum.
Air Fryer Toastie
Yes, you can totally make the ultimate toasted sandwich in your air fryer! And the best part? It won’t squash your bread!
You’ll need:
- Bread (the thicker, the better)
- Cheese
- Any other fillings you’d like to add
- Butter
Method:
-
Add your fillings inside your bread, and close the sandwich.
-
Butter both sides of the sandwich.
-
Pop it in the air fryer for 5 minutes, and then flip for another 5 minutes.
- Slice in half, and enjoy!
Air Fryer Eggplant Parmigiana
Feeling lazy? Same. This recipe is for those of you who are always on the hunt for an easy-as dinner, free from mess (and effort). You can also repeat this recipe with chicken (but you’ll have to cook it for a little longer than the eggplant).
You’ll need:
- Eggplant
- Panko crumbs (or simply put some bread in a food processor)
- 1 egg
- Passata
- Shredded cheese
Method:
-
Slice your eggplant into thin-ish slices (thick enough to feel kinda like a schnitzel, but not too thick).
-
Crack open your egg and give it a whisk (a fork will do).
-
Coat each individual eggplant slice in the egg, and then coat it in the panko/bread crumbs.
-
Pop the slices into the air fryer for 10 minutes, then remove and add some passata and the shredded cheese.
- Put the eggplant back into the air fryer for another 5 minutes, and serve!
